West Martello – Key West, FL

posted in: FLORIDA, TRAVEL | 0

Key West was the only southern city who allied with the Union during the Civil War. There are three civil war structures on the island, Fort Zachary Taylor, and two towers called East and West Martello. The West Martello tower is now home to the Key West Garden club where you can enjoy a peaceful walk through remarkable flora while also appreciating the historical significance of the grounds.

I particularly enjoyed the multiple species of orchids that were on display because orchids are my absolute favorite flower – as prominently featured in my multiple other garden walks.

Admission to the gardens is free, but donations can help ensure that this beautiful exhibit continues for future visitors.
